The learning curve with hair extensions is real, but it’s short — most clients have their new routine down within the first week or two. Here’s what actually changes day-to-day.
A quick note: everything below is written specifically for the nano tip extensions Elena installs at Elleven Hair Studio — it’s the only method offered here, so the bond-specific care tips (washing, brushing) apply to nano bonds rather than tape-ins or wefts.

Washing
Wash your roots and scalp the way you normally would, but let the shampoo run through the lengths rather than scrubbing directly at the bonds. Condition from mid-length down, avoiding the bonds themselves, since conditioner can loosen the bond adhesive over time if it builds up right at the attachment point.
Brushing
A loop brush (sometimes called an extension brush) is worth the investment — it’s designed to glide through without catching on the bonds. Brush in sections, holding just above each bond while you work through the ends, rather than pulling a brush straight down from your scalp.
Sleeping
A loose braid or low ponytail before bed keeps your extensions from tangling overnight, and a silk or satin pillowcase reduces friction significantly compared to cotton. Skip sleeping with wet hair when you can — extensions take longer to dry than natural hair alone, and going to bed damp is one of the fastest ways to end up with matting by morning.
Heat and everyday styling
Heat tools are fine to use, just keep them a small distance from the bonds themselves rather than styling directly over them. The hair below the bond behaves like your natural hair, so your usual products and tools work the same way — the bonds are really the only part that needs extra care.
Questions about your specific routine? Elena’s happy to walk through it at your next appointment — small adjustments make a bigger difference than most people expect. And if you ever need replacement hair, Elleven Hair Studio can supply that too, so you’re not sourcing it elsewhere.
